Yoga has been a part of most of my adult life. I have been practising as a student for 24 years and teaching for 14 years. After my first yoga class I was hooked! I couldn’t believe how connected and steady i felt.
I was fortunate enough to start my yoga journey in the lineage of T. Krishnamcharya and whilst occasionally dabbling in others ‘styles’ my path has always remained with the richness of these teachings. My teacher training was completed in 2004 through my mentor Barbara Brian (a student of the late TKV Desikachar) at the Agama Yoga Centre in Middle Park, Melbourne.
Since this time my enthusiasm for yoga and how much it can improve my life has never wained. I have continued to study extensively at home and abroad in India with the Desikachar family and my journey has evolved to teaching others who wish to delve deeper into these teachings. I currently conduct Teacher Training courses and weekly group classes at Kyo Yoga in Ocean Grove, Victoria.
My special interest in yoga lies in the teachings of the ancient texts, rich with information and understandings on how to face the challenges of our modern lives. I have recently embarked on 4-years (1000 hours) of Yoga Therapy training focusing on an individualised approach to yoga. This personalised form of practice facilitates wellness for others through the wide range of tools yoga has to offer.
The foundation for this will always be my daily practice and I still love getting on the mat each day and creating my own space for a short time!
